In one year this project aims to offer 36 group sessions ( once a week , 12 a term over three terms) to a maximum of 24 year 6 boys ( across three primary schools a year). In addition the project will offer one to one support out of the group sessions, after school and during holiday periods. We would aim to meet with the primary carer/s at least once a term per school. The heads have identified the need where possible to develop a father’s support group. The project will aim by the second year to have developed and to facilitate a fathers group in each primary school. The regularity will be determined through consultation with the fathers, once engaged. It would be anticipated that once running, new fathers would join through word of mouth and publicity. Finally the project will deliver follow up work in the September term to Year 7 boys on a fortnightly basis , a maximum of 24 boys, in the three secondary academies.
